Consonno: Old Time Dreamland

 Consonno: Old Time Dreamland.

Lately I have been passionate, together with dear friends, to visit places with particular stories and that leave a trail of melancholy behind.

This is the case of Consonno, a fraction of Olginate, which brings with it a story of pomp and entertainment that, over time, has turned into degradation but what remains, is worth the visit.

The town of Consonno, a small village in the province of Lecce, today is a "ghost town" but, in 1962 when it has been acquired by Mario Bagno, it had become the italian "Dreamland".
Think that it was razed to the ground and this "little Las Vegas" was built with luxury accommodations, a funfair, a zoological park, football fields and much more.
We are talking about the period of the economic boom where it was very easy to give a new life to an  old city.
The slogans to publicize the city were "In Consonno is always party time" or "Consonno the smallest but most beautiful city in the world".
After Consonno has lived the best years, unfortunately the economic crisis and the little desire for innovation ... forced the property to close.
Today, what remains, has been vandalized but it is worth visiting this ancient dreamland.
It is strange ... the atmosphere is unique as if it still echoes that magnificence of the past but with a distinctly different mood.
If you are also passionate about these places, I strongly recommend you to go.
